Every thing in Islam is in chain. Means everything is connected like The Companions (Razi Allahu Anhum)of Prophet(sallallahu alaihi wasallam) listen from the Prophet(sallallahu alaihi wasallam) they transmit it to their students called Tabaeen, Then Tabaeen transmits it to their students .... So on til now. So every thing is connected in Our Religion and we have everything's proof. As there is the linked in everything in Islam then the things which are not in linked or which are innovated by the people are not accepted and there are many sayings of prophet(pbuh) in which he said that who innovate in the religion his place is in Jahannam , Allah has cursed the people who innovate and who help or protect the innovators. So we have to be very carefull and leave the innovations. And we should repent.
